FROM: The HomeTown Association Board of Realtors (HAR)
This is the local Dekalb and surrounding area board.
On the evening of April 9th the communities of Rochelle, Ashton, Fairdale and more were hit by a very large and destructive tornado. The damage is horrific and many lost their homes. We are told to stay away from the damaged areas but many things are needed that we can volunteer to gather to help. We cannot enter the bad areas without credentials so we will gather what is needed and deliver it to the Red Cross located at Rochelle Township High School. We cannot accept cash donations… only gift cards.
The following items are needed immediately and can dropped off at HAR East at 1430 DeKalb Avenue in Sycamore, IL 60178 or directly at the Red Cross location on Flagg Road in Rochelle at the Rochelle Township High School.
Hand sanitizer
Water
Blankets
Ready to eat food
Baby wipes, hand wipes
Meds and first aid items
Diapers
Animals food and cages
Cloths
Plastic bins
Gift Cards
There is an immediate need for rentals in the area for those that lost their homes. If you have ANY vacant properties that would consider renting immediately please contact Bobbie Bryant at Rochelle Realty and Property Management 815-562-7368
Kristen Jungles our IAR Government Affairs Director will have a drop off location at her home in Naperville for those in other Association areas to donate. She can be reached at kjungles@sbcglobal.com
We are so grateful for the outpouring of support by both our community and those surrounding. At this time, we ask that anyone interested in volunteering hold until further notice. We may need volunteers in the coming days, however at this point, damage assessment continues.
