Plan to participate in Sycamore Park District’s Spring Fishing Derby this Saturday, April 27th, 2013. From 8:00 AM – 10:30 AM Saturday, fishermen of all ages are invited to bring their family and show off their skills at Lake Sycamore. First and second place prizes awarded along with door prizes.
All participants must be registered by 9:30 a.m. on the day of the Derby. Pre-registration is suggested. Volunteers are needed. For details, call the Community Center at 815-895-3202 . It’s time to unplug and GET OUTSIDE! The woods are bursting with life – if you know where to look. Come to Sycamore Park District’s ‘Nature: Down and Dirty‘ this Saturday, April 27th, 2013 and learn how to spot animal tracks, nests, and other signs of life. Identify plants, insects, and birds. Dig in as you uncover what’s happening underground. Get your feet wet (literally) investigating the river. Guided exploration will be combined with fun hands-on activities and games. Be sure to wear closed-toed, water-friendly shoes and grubby clothes. Please bring or wear bug spray. Instructor: Molly Trickey of The Midwest Museum of Natural History.
The event will go from 1pm – 3:30pm this Saturday. Meet at the Good Tymes Shelter, entrance off of Airport Rd. in Sycamore. Designed for ages 7-13. Advanced registration is required at Sycamore Park District. Resident cost is $20, non-resident is $25.
