The City of DeKalb has instituted the CodeRED Emergency Notification System – an ultra high-speed telephone communication service for emergency notifications. This system will allow the City of DeKalb to telephone, text, or email all or targeted areas of the City in case of an emergency situation that requires immediate action. Some examples of when CodeRED could be used is for: evacuation notice, missing person, fires or floods, when a criminal is actively being sought, and other emergency situations where rapid notification is essential for life and safety.
The City of DeKalb has contracted with CodeRED and has been provided an initial database of residential and business phone numbers BUT all residents are encouraged to visit www.cityofdekalb.com and click on the CodeRED logo to enroll additional contact information into the CodeRED database such as an unlisted land line phone number, cell phone numbers, text and email addresses so you may receive such emergency notifications. It is important you use your physical address and not a Post Office box or out of town address as this system is geographically based. If your phone number is not in the database, you will NOT be called.
