My name is Paulette Sherman and I am running for 3rd Ward Alderman in the City of DeKalb.
I first came to our community to attend Northern Illinois University where I graduated with a degree in political science and applied probability and statistics. Since arriving in DeKalb, I have come to care very deeply about this community and have decided to make it my home.
My husband, John, is a lifelong resident of DeKalb. He worked for many years as the Head Butcher at Inboden’s Meat Market, and has been very active in the local music scene.
Recently John and I decided to raise our own family in this community. We live on Kendall Lane with our five month old little girl, Lucy Mae, and our golden retriever, Bear.
Like all homeowners in the city of DeKalb, John and I have certainly felt the impact of increased property taxes on our family’s budget. I believe that the city’s priorities must be reevaluated, especially during these tough economic times. It is imperative that the city refocus its efforts on becoming a more streamlined, efficient, and business friendly environment.
I previously served on the DeKalb County Board in 2006 after being appointed to a vacant seat. My time spent on the board gave me great insight into the inner-workings of local government, the budget process, as well as what it means to serve my community. It is my sincere hope that I will once again be able to represent my friends and neighbors and bring meaningful change to our wonderful community. If elected to serve, I promise to hold the line on ALL taxes, explore new ways to cut spending, and ensure that DeKalb continues to provide a wonderful home to its many citizens.

Tim Schulz-
You think Paulette Sherman’s desire to reduce DeKalb taxes and streamline municipal government is “slackjawed dimwittery”? If so, I hope you will not be making any decisions for local government.
I am glad DeKalb’s third ward has two good candidates running for this seat. Neither one is “slackjawed” or a “dimwit”.
Perhaps your party could help you learn a little respect for all candidates in the process.

Please take my name off any of your mailing lists. People like you can kiss my Democratic @#@#@. Don’t waste my mailbox space with your slackjawed dimwittery.

Paulette does have an opponent Nadine but we have not received her bio and pic yet. lol on the nursery rhyme 😉

Gracie, once a head butcher is elected and with Baker already on the council, all we’ll need is a candlestick maker!
Thanks for this fact-filled interview! Is she running unopposed?

I apologize, but I have tried to contact every voter in the 3rd ward whether they are republicans, democrats, or independents. The purpose of campaigns is for me as a candidate to propose solutions to problems, advocate my positions, and allow the voters to decide whether I’m the best choice or not. I will remove you from my lists immediately, but I think calling names because a candidate sent you a piece of mail to inform you about their positions is a little nonsensical.
