Egyptian Theatre Announces More Events for Fall Season

The Egyptian Theatre is excited to announce four more events for their fall season:

• Yesterday & Today: The Interactive Beatles Experience – Friday, October 14 at 8 PM
• Think Floyd USA – Friday, October 21 at 8 PM
• Historian Jim Gibbons’ Presents: “The Life of John F. Kennedy” – Tuesday, October 25 at 7 PM
• Rocky Horror Picture Show – August 27, September 23, October 28, and November 18

Yesterday and Today: The Interactive Beatles Experience is the nation’s most innovative and unique show utilizing the works of the Beatles. This amazing group, anchored by brothers Billy, Ryan and Matthew McGuigan, does away the worn out “tribute” format of bad wigs and fake accents. Instead, they perform as themselves and leave the song choices completely in the hands of the audience.

This is done through request cards that audience members fill out prior to the show. On those cards, the audience member only needs to fill out three things: their name, their favorite Beatles song and the reason why they chose that song. The cards are collected and two minutes before the show begins, a set list is created based upon the songs chosen by that particular audience. As an added treat, the reasons that the audience members chose those songs make up the narrative of the evening.

Think Floyd USA celebrates the music of Pink Floyd with a full-production tribute performance that showcases an energetic and phenomenally gifted cast alongside mesmerizing lights and video. Featuring nine passionate musicians and vocalists, Think Floyd USA includes several dedicated founding members who began the journey together in 2004.

Deemed “absolutely amazing…the best Pink Floyd tribute anywhere” by Full Throttle Magazine and Best Tribute Band by Chicago’s Metromix fans, Think Floyd USA has been featured in Singers & Musicians Magazine, which said, “You don’t have to close your eyes to believe TFUSA is the real thing!”

October 25, 1959 then Senator John F. Kennedy gave a speech at the Egyptian Theatre in front of a packed house. A recording of this very speech has been found and will be played for the first time on the anniversary of his speech 57 years ago. Following the playing of his speech historian, Jim Gibbons, will present the life of our 35th President of the United States, John Fitzgerald Kennedy.

Jim Gibbons, a Marengo, IL resident and historian, has made a name for himself teaching the importance of history. Using his passion for and strong knowledge of history, Jim offers riveting presentations on the historical events and figures.

The last show announcement this week is the fall schedule for Rocky Horror Picture Show with the live shadowcast Irrational Masters. New this year is a special performance on Saturday, August 27 at 10 PM during Corn Fest weekend Downtown DeKalb. The other shows for the fall season will take place Friday, September 23 at 8 PM; Friday, October 28 at 8 PM; and Friday, November 18 at 8 PM.

Tickets for all of these shows will go on sale to the general public on Friday, July 29 at 10:00 AM. Advanced ticket sales for Friends of the Egyptian Theatre members go on sale Wednesday, July 27 at 10:00 AM.
