Nashville-based Dollar General will open a new store in Cortland in the new year. The developer recently closed on the property and is expected to begin construction immediately, weather permitting. The store will be located at the northeast corner of Robinson Avenue and South Somonauk Road across the street from the car wash. The Cortland store will feature Dollar General’s new look and store prototype. The store is expected to be open for business in March 2011.
Dollar General officials and representatives visited Cortland during the summer and were very excited about the business prospects in Cortland and the Town Board’s can-do attitude. “This development is the spark we need to get more commercial development in Cortland,” says Mayor Bob Seyller. “Having a national retailer like Dollar General to confirm that Cortland is a place to do business will get the attention of other retailers and developers. This is a tremendous breakthrough for our community.”
