3D Printing: Bookmarks

Create and 3D print bookmarks in one of two 3D modeling programs! We’ll show you how to use TinkerCad or Blender. Art Attack: POP! Art Inspired by Roy Lichtenstein

In these programs, we will be using skills beyond the cutting, gluing, and coloring that we do during Craft Corner (the weekly craft after Story Time). All materials will be provided but will not be pre-prepped. This Wednesday, we will explore the bold, exciting world of Pop Art inspired by American artist Roy Lichtenstein. Lichtenstein was famous for turning comic books into art, using bright colors, dramatic action scenes, speech bubbles, and dotted patterns to make his work POP! After learning about his playful style, create your own Pop Art masterpiece using mixed media, including bubble wrap printing, bold paint, and collage elements—perfect for expressing big ideas and bigger sound effects. ESL Pronunciation Practice

Sustainability Swap

It’s important to be responsible consumers and consider sustainability when we need new things. Our Sustainability Swap, monthly on the first Thursdays, allows you to trade in your lightly used clothing for someone else’s, as well as swap houseplants you might not want to care for. The houseplant portion of the swap is sponsored by Willrett Flower Company. Freshly washed clothing in adult sizes can be dropped off at the reference desk one week before the program. Houseplants of all kinds are welcome, but please only bring pots that you are willing to part with. You do not need to drop your plants off in advance. The California Gold Rush

The era of the California Gold Rush lasted from 1848 to 1855 and is remembered as being one of the most lucrative and intriguing moments in U.S. history. It brought about a sudden and rapid increase in the overall population of the state during the Compromise of 1850, which resulted in the state being admitted into the Union on September 9 of that year. During this program we will discuss the history behind this phenomenon in American history, along with its impact on cultural icons such as the San Francisco 49ers football team and the Johnston McCulley Zorro stories. Several references to this historical event are also found in operas, stage plays and many of the films from the Golden Age of Hollywood. This program is free and intended for teens and adults. Beginner Book Repair

Attend a beginner workshop that will guide you through repairing your personal books to ensure their longevity for the future.
