Yes, I was thinking that too, Mac, but apparently the way the member worded the response it gave me the wrong idea. I wrote back to this member and also to Mr. Anderson and they both said they did get it.
Onward!
I heard from Eileen too and she may have copied several on her comments. Good for her!! At least some board members have principles. I was terribly disappointed in one board member whom I thought sure would vote against. That member, though, ended up feeling like there weren't any alternatives. I wish they had taken our input to heart or at least put the thing off until they could investigate good ecological alternatives. There still would have been money to be made.

excellent point Mac. Frankie if I can assist in any way, I will. I sent an email to Dubin, Ken, Kevin C., Tyson, Gundmunson, and others and Eileen stated the BP incident affected her vote because her concern was one of true corporate accountability. She felt by going on WM's promises alone was not enough.

Frankie, please have the Board member who told you that to put it in writing. That single letter might win the appeal.

Ken Anderson has offered his support to us. I have corresponded with him briefly. I think it would be appropriate to continue conversations with those on the board who voted no and enlist their help as much as possible. I am starting to smell a rat as far as what the board was allowed to be exposed to during the open hearing process. One board member (not K. Anderson) has said that because of how their role was defined they weren't allowed to read our letters. Yet, we were told that our input would be taken into account if we submitted written comments by the stated deadline. I did that and this board member did not see my letter. I handed it right to Mr. Bockman and got a receipt. I am going to investigate this further with the other NO voters and see what happened. I suspect that our rights have been pretty flagrantly violated here.

Many of those who voted for the dump are good people who have worked hard for the people. But they are way out of touch on this one, on an issue with very, very serious long-range consequences. Our goal in Nov. should be nothing less than unseating all those running who voted for it, and supporting those who opposed. We will need a campaign as large and well-organized as the one that won the school levy vote! As for me, i'm a Green, and i think it's safe to say you'll have all five dozen Green Party voters in the county with us!!

Hi Tom, Riley Oncken is one of the current reps for District 3 but his seat is not up in the next election. One seat from each of the 12 districts is up for election this time. Ken Andersen will run again for District 3 in November and his opponent will be Mark Pietrowski. Hope that helps!

For District 3, county board web site shows Ken Andersen and Riley Oncken and not Mark Pietrowski.

Frankie… if our appeal is successful or had the board voted the siting application down WMI would have to wait 2 years to reapply. 2 years. That's probably enough time to investigate alternatives? Those board members who supported the expansion chose to support it. They were not forced. They were not bound by law to support it. They took the money. It wasn't for them personally. It was for programs/projects that are near and dear to their hearts but no matter the reason they sold their duties to protect the citizens, especially those of Cortland and Pierce townships.
