DeKalb, IL — The City of DeKalb has announced that applications for the 2026 Human Services Funding Grant will be released on September 30, 2025. The City will allocate $300,000 in grant funds to nonprofit agencies that provide services for residents of the City of DeKalb.
Funding will support organizations that provide vital services to individuals and families in need, including but not limited to:
- People who are homeless or at risk of homelessness
- Individuals experiencing substance abuse or mental health challenges
- Victims of domestic and/or sexual violence
- Neglected or abused children
- At-risk children and youth
- Elderly individuals and persons with disabilities
- Households with low to moderate income levels
Priority will be given to programs that address critical community issues, such as:
- Homelessness and housing insecurity
- Food insecurity
- Support for vulnerable populations, including the elderly, individuals with disabilities, and youth
Funding Restrictions
Grant funds must be used directly for client services and tangible supports. Funds cannot be used for salaries, benefits, agency operations, or unrelated expenses such as party supplies or entertainment.
Applications will be available on the City’s website beginning September 30, 2025. Submission instructions and deadlines will be provided at that time.
