Fishing is a great way to spend some quality time together with family. Why not enjoy the day with the DeKalb Public Library at Shabbona Lake State Park this Sunday from 8am-4pm? ‘A Sawyer Fishing Day’ is being presented as part of the library’s Big Read program. Tom Sawyer loved to spend his afternoons lazily fishing away without any worries. Take this fishing opportunity to read his adventures as you try to catch some of your own.
They will be at the 3 Fires Picnic Shelter handing out free Big Read books and serving some sweet sustenance to the “fishers”. The Lakeside Bait Shop offers bait, tackle, fishing licenses and other fishing equipment for sale or bring your own. Fishing poles will not be provided, so come prepared. Big Read representatives will be there all day, so feel free to join them for an hour or two or the whole day. The Big Read is brought to you by the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest.
The 3 Fires Picnic Shelter is located near The Lakeside Bait Shop at Shabbona Lake State Park, 4201 Shabbona Grove Road in Shabbona. Call 815-756-9568 ext. 260 for directions.
