Kishwaukee College Student Government Association (SGA) is offering students and community residents the opportunity to register to vote in time for the upcoming November Presidential Election. The group will have Voter Registration tables set up on campus on September 26 and 27 and again on October 3 – 5.
The Voter Registration tables on September 26 and 27 will be located in front of the Student Activities Office located on the first floor of the Student Center from 10:00a.m. – 2:00p.m. The Voter Registration tables on October 3 through 5 will be located in the College’s Main Atrium near the Library from 9:30a.m. – 1:00p.m. (October 3 only) and from 10:00a.m. – 2:00p.m. (October 4 and 5). Anyone registering to vote needs to be a U.S. citizen; at least 18 years old by November 8, 2016, which is Election Day; be an Illinois resident; and have been a resident of their local precinct for at least 30 days prior to Election Day.
Registrants need to provide two forms of identification, with at least one showing a current residential address. Examples of acceptable identification include driver’s license or state ID; credit card bill, pre- printed check, bill or receipt showing current address; and recently postmarked mail with current address. Registrants will be sent a Voters Registration Card by mail within three weeks of registration.
To assist voters with making an informed decision in November, the SGA will be showing videos of the Presidential Debates on September 27 from 1 – 3:00p.m. in Room C1121 and the second debate on October 10 from 1 -:3:00p.m. in C1118, plus a viewing of the Vice Presidential debate on October 5 from 1 – 3:00p.m. in C1118. Viewing of the debates will include facilitated discussion of the issues and policies held and articulated by the candidates. The public is welcome to participate in viewing the debates and the subsequent discussions.
