Waterman residents will soon have a new park thanks to the efforts of a grassroots organization called The Waterman Enhancement Group. Through several years of fundraising efforts, a generous grant from the DeKalb County Community Foundation, along with Waterman Lion’s Club and local volunteers, the vision has become a reality. The five acre parcel owned by the Village of Waterman will feature a walking/ bike path, a natural play area and a natural habitat garden with benches and trees.
The park will be used as an educational area for local students and residents as well. The park is across from the new Indian Creek Middle School and the students will be invited to help name the park. The park features an existing wooded area in which a mulch trail was installed last fall by volunteers. The park is expected to be completed in three phases. The final phase is planned to include a pavilion for community and family gatherings and potentially a local farmers’ market.
Waterman Enhancement Group’s marketing efforts will include “Groups of The Week”. Eagle Scouts will be involved and all scout groups will be asked to volunteer. Students who need to fulfill Community Service Hours and local businesses will all be included. If you and your group or business would like to volunteer or need more information, please contact: Peggy Rogers at plrogers50@yahoo.com, or “Like” and follow us on Facebook and www.visit30.com will also have updates and information.

Should put up a new skate park as well

Another example of “Small Town Strong”. Go Waterman!

Kellsa Jontz.

Are they building the new middle school at the same site as the old high school?

The new middle school is the old elementary school

Maegan Gletty now I’ve got to ask where the grade school went.

The grade school consolidated with Shabbona Elementary into Indian Creek Elementary.

Great community work wonder if sycamore could do that with the old trailer park
