Stage Coach Players proudly presents their production of “The Graduate,” a classic movie from the late ‘60’s brought to the live stage. This story, that questioned success and middle class values, spoke to a whole generation and is still relevant today. Jim Doherty, the director, thinks that those who cheered for Ben back then may now look at him a little differently. As that generation has now experienced their own successes and failures, situations may have new interpretations. That is the excitement of bringing a well-known story to life again.
Benjamin Braddock had a bright future supposedly waiting for him (maybe in plastics!) but he just did not know how to get there. In the turbulent summer after graduating college he becomes involved with Mrs. Robinson and her daughter, all the while trying to figure out his life. There are a number of additional scenes in the stage version and this talented ensemble is bringing out the humor as well as the conflict. This play presents adult themes and contains some adult language; it is most suitable for age 16 and older.
“The Graduate” runs September 10-12 and 17-19 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, September 20 at 2:00 p.m. For tickets or more information go to stagecoachers.com or leave a message at the box office, 815-758-1940. Stage Coach Players Theatre is located at 126 S. Fifth Street in DeKalb.
