Students in Kishwaukee College’s Automotive Technology program will gain real-world experience working on the newer model Nissan.
The Automotive Technology program at Kishwaukee College received a generous donation from Nissan North America, a 2013 Sentra SV. Tim Banasiak, Automotive Tech instructor, said, “I am extremely grateful to the Nissan Midwest Region. When they contacted me, they wanted to reach out to a local community college to help auto students in their education. The newer models like this Sentra SV help keep our program current, and give the students a chance to work on the latest technology.”
The Automotive Technology Program at Kishwaukee College gives students a comprehensive educational base with hands-on experience in a modern auto-shop. Auto Tech students use computerized shop equipment and electronic components as well as traditional tools. Receiving vehicle donations – like the Nissan Sentra SV – allows students the opportunity to gain experience on the type of vehicles they will work on as professionals in their field.
Greg Ebbs, Marketing and Contest and Incentives Manager for the Midwest Region of Nissan North America, explained, “When we have the opportunity to donate a vehicle, we first look to support schools that are located close to our Regional offices. The knowledge these students gain of the Nissan products is crucial in today’s workplace and we hope that when they graduate and enter the automotive workplace, they seriously consider working at a Nissan dealership to leverage their knowledge of Nissan.”
Banasiak added, “Nissan has been supportive of the Kishwaukee College Automotive program for over ten years. They have donated vehicles and parts, including engines, and have offered factory training for Kishwaukee instructors. Their generosity and dedication to the education of future automotive professionals is top notch.”
