Guided Meditation returns for its monthly installment on Thursday, Nov. 13 at 7:00 PM.
This month will focus on chakra alignment. The word “chakra” may sound exotic, but chakras are simply points in the body along the spine starting from the crown and ending at the perineum. These points generally correspond to certain organs or to meeting points of nerves and blood vessels. In yogic and other traditions they are the centers of various energy channels, keeping organs and other body functions working properly.
Our thought processes can cause blockage of these chakras, which affects our physical health. Therefore it is important to cleanse them periodically(preferably every day). Breath, yoga postures, mindfulness, and exercise can all help achieve that.
While physical activity is important and effective, addressing our thought processes is a key component to meditation. In Guided Meditation, we learn to calm the mind and observe our thoughts. Through relaxation and breathing techniques, we reconnect the mind with the body, and begin to feel rested and energized with a sense of well-being. If it sounds esoteric, it is only because it needs to be experienced! Come try it!
