On Tuesday, October 21st, 2014, at approximately 1:30 pm DeKalb Police received a 911 call. The caller advised he was attacked while on the walking path near the DeKalb County Health Department by a male/white subject wearing a black coat and blue jeans. The victim told responding officers that he was struck in the head and then dragged into the ditch where the suspect continued to attack him. Officers from surrounding police agencies responded to the area in an effort to locate the suspect. Area schools were locked down as a precautionary measure. DeKalb Fire Department transported the victim to Kishwaukee Community Hospital for treatment. The victim was treated for a minor injury and released.
DeKalb Police spoke to the victim upon his release from the hospital. Through investigation, it was learned the victim, for personal reasons, falsely reported this incident. The victim was subsequently released pending further investigation.
UPDATE 11/05/14
Through investigation, a charge of Disorderly Conduct-Filing a False Police Report (Class 4 Felony) was brought before the DeKalb County State’s Attorney’s Office which was approved and an arrest warrant for Jacob Garcia was issued. Bond was set at $3,000, 10% to apply.
On 11/5/14 Garcia turned himself into the DeKalb Police Department. He was subsequently arrested, processed, and released after posting bond.
