Kishwaukee College held its annual Commencement Ceremonies on May 17. During morning commencement ceremonies, Lt. Governor Sheila Simon delivered the Commencement address that included the personal stories of two of the students graduating: Dora Navejas, Rochelle, and Paul Belcher, DeKalb. Lt. Governor Simon shared their stories as examples of the many journeys undertaken by all graduates.
Lt. Governor Simon has been a strong supporter of community colleges across the state and has expressed that she would like to see at least 60% of Illinois adults hold a post-high school credential – a college degree or certificate – by 2025.
