CCT of DeKalb County, a not-for-profit community theatre organization based in DeKalb, announces open auditions for its Kids & Family production of “Honk!” Auditions will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. this Sunday, November 4 and from 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. on Monday, November 5. Those auditioning are required to be at least 7 years of age on the date of audition. Performances are scheduled for March 2013.
All auditions will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 321 Oak Street in DeKalb.
“Honk!” tells the story of the Ugly Duckling, whose odd, gawky looks instantly incite prejudice from his family and neighbors. Separated from the farm and pursued by a hungry Cat, Ugly must find his way home. Along his rollicking and harrowing journey, he not only discovers his true beauty and glorious destiny, but also finds love and acceptance in all its forms. “Honk!” is witty and hilarious, but also deeply moving.
The production will be directed by Jeff Hall, with music direction by Erin Daigle. Rehearsals will begin with a light schedule in December. “Honk!” was rewarded with the 2000 Oliver Award for Best New Musical, beating out such heavyweights as “Mamma Mia!” and “The Lion King.”
Those auditioning for “Honk!” should prepare a short song or nursery rhyme to sing. All participants may also read cold from the script. Parents should accompany children. For more information on CCT’s productions of “Honk!” log on to www.CCTOnstage.com or find CCT of DeKalb County on Facebook.
