In 2004, Schelkopf donated his priceless collection of preserved mounts to the City of Sycamore. His collection was the seed that sprouted the Midwest Museum of Natural History. Today, the mission of the MMNH is, to inspire an appreciation for the great diversity of the natural environment and human culture through education and recreation. It is truly a great jewel in our community.
