Over the Holiday season, Feed’em Soup Community Project has been fortunate with an abundance of clothing donations. From Sycamore High School to Northern Illinois University Students running clothing drives, the group has collected over 10,000 gently used articles of clothing.
With the winter months finally taking their toll on the county, Feed’em Soup is opening their doors to the public during non-meal hours for 4 additional days this month. “The clothing isn’t doing our community any good hanging on racks” said Board Member Derek Gibbs. “We want to give people every opportunity we can to take advantage of all of the clothes our community has provided”
The group will open the clothing closet on the following dates as a onetime event to allow as many people as possible to take advantage of their closet.
Tuesday January 17th from 1pm – 7pm
Wednesday January 18th from 11am – 7pm
Tuesday January 24th from 11am – 7pm
Wednesday January 25th from 11am – 7pm (dinner is served at 5pm)
The clothing closet is located at Feed’em Soup Headquarters, located at 122 South First Street in Dekalb and is completely open to the public and free of charge. Feed’em Soup organizers state that there is only one guideline at the closet and that is “Take only what you need”. The closet is stocked full of coats, shirts, jeans, shoes and other items in Men’s, Women’s, Children and Baby’s sizes.
