A crash of drums. A flash of light. And Children’s Community Theater’s (CCT’s) Stage Right Theatre explodes with the Andrew Lloyd Webber spectacular, ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.’ This internationally acclaimed hit plays January 6-8 and 13-15, 2012 at NIU’s O’Connell Theatre. Friday and Saturday evening performances begin at 7:00 p.m., Sunday matinees are scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
CCT is dedicated to the development and fostering of an interest in dramatic arts among people of all ages, but especially children and young adults.
The show is a lovely, comic and colorful journey through the Biblical story of young Joseph, sold into slavery by his brothers after his father favored him with a gorgeous colored cloak. His gift of prophecy saves him from an uncertain fate and helps him to rescue Egypt from famine.
Animated with a high-energy mix of music and dancing from 50′s rock to calypso to country western, this show is promised to be a a favorite with audiences of all ages. The show is hailed for its family-friendly storyline, universal themes and catchy music.
Starring as Joseph is Jacob Austin, George Schippits plays Jacob, Andy Small is the Pharaoh, Rachel Page is the Narrator, and Cheryl Quinn as Mrs. Potiphar.
Joseph’s eleven brothers are played by Andrew McComb (Reuben), Jeff Johnson (Simeon), Dustin King (Levi), Aaron Butler (Nephtali), Nick Kinner (Issachar), Jimmy Capek (Asher), Dominic Johnson (Dan), Alex Riley (Zebulon), Brooks Coran (Gad), Matthew Johnson (Benjamin) and Joe King (Judah).
The wives are portrayed by Natalie Creviston, Arielle Emmens, Caitlin Elsik, Ellen Conley, Heather Hahn, Jaycee Mattis, Jessie Jacober, Jessie Wilson, Paige Harrington, Rachel Harker and Ruther Hart.
