Join DeKalb County Clerk & Recorder, John Acardo as he inducts 10 new members to the DeKalb County Veterans Honor Roll on Thursday, July 28, 2011. With the cancellation of the County Board meeting on July 20, the newest members of the Veterans Honor Roll will be performed at the Kishwaukee Fest USO Tribute Concert.
The DeKalb County Veterans Honor Roll is a small way our community can continue to honor the men and women who sacrificed so much for our freedoms and liberties. Honorees receive a certificate; have their name recorded at each County Board Meeting and in a leather bound book kept with the County’s records; their name engraved on a small plaque located outside of the Veterans Assistance Commission; and will be honored at a small reception later this year.
Later this month, ten local Veterans will be honored, and a special tribute will be made to Corporal Christopher Piatt who returned home early this month from his deployment in Afghanistan.
The DeKalb County Veterans Honor Roll Ceremony will be conducted during intermission at the Kishwaukee Fest USO Tribute Concert, beginning at 7:00 PM at Hopkins Park’s Band Shell on Thursday, July 28th.
