The DeKalb County Keep Encouraging Youth to Succeed (KEYS) Initiative is pleased to present its first ever “Who’s Got Talent” community youth talent show. The talent show will be a chance for DeKalb County youth (ages 7 to 18) to show off their skills in front of a live audience. There are many talented young people living in our community and we want to spotlight and celebrate their talents!
The talent show will be at 7 p.m. this Saturday, June 4, at NIU’s O’Connell Theater. Tickets will be $7 each. There will be three classes of competition, ages 7 to 10, 11 to 14, and 15 to 18. Cash prizes will beawarded to first and second places in each age category.
The show is being organized by a team of youth from the Kishwaukee College Right to Succeed Program. All profits from the show will be used by KEYS for ongoing program development. DeKalb County KEYS is committed to the principle that all young people need the support and care of the entire community to become thriving and successful adults. KEYS uses the framework of the 40 developmental assets to guide their efforts. They want to help individuals, businesses and other organizations understand the key assets that youth need to become successful adults and to challenge each person in the community to become an asset builder in their sphere of influence.
