It’s not too early to think about holiday gifts for friends and family, and the 25th annual Wonderful World of Christmas Craft Show is a good place to start shopping from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Sunday, November 10th, 2013 at the Genoa-Kingston High School just west of downtown Genoa on Route 72.
With more than 125 crafters and businesses displaying and selling wares, starting and finishing shopping in one day is a real possibility. Just a few of items available include American doll clothes, string puppets and G-K school apparel. Bake sales, food booths and more than 300 grab bag gifts will be available as well. New items for sale this year include small and large stained glass panels and caricatures drawn while you wait. Bake sales, food booths and more than 300 grab bag gifts also will be available.
Entertainment will be provided by fourth-grade students from Genoa Elementary School, the Belvidere North High School choir and a local guitarist.
Santa will arrive at 11 a.m. and stay until 1:00 p.m. for photos and to hear special wishes.
Admission is $1 for adults and 50 cents for children, with more than 100 chances to win door prizes. A drawing will be conducted for a hand-crocheted afghan and a 50/50 cash drawing will take place at the end of the show.
This event is sponsored by the Genoa Community Women’s Club to benefit the Genoa- Kingston High School scholarship fund. Scholarships are awarded each year to deserving graduating seniors. Last year, four students were awarded $1,000 each.
The club also donates money throughout the year to area programs and individual families in need of help. In April 2012, Genoa Community Women’s Club held a Bunco Event for Breast Cancer Awareness. Over $7000 was raised and given to community not for profits to help out with their programs.
It’s not too late to reserve booth space. To reserve a space or for more information about the show, call Nancy at 815-761-0515.
Members of the club are excited to celebrate the club’s 66th year. Monthly meetings are conducted at 7 p.m., the fourth Tuesday of the month in the community room on the lower level of Resource Bank in Genoa. The club welcomes all women from Genoa, Kingston and surrounding communities to make a difference. For more information about the club, call Nancy at 815-761-0515.
