THE WALL THAT HEALS is coming to Sycamore, Illinois for the third time this Wednesday, July 12th . It will be on display July 13th – 16th, in the East Sycamore Park off Airport Road. The WALL was in Sycamore in September 1997 and September 2007. The Wall That Heals is a 250-foot- long replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C., and bears the names of more than 58,000 men and women who died serving in war, including 19 names from DeKalb County.
You can just come see the WALL or you can be a part of the WALL by going to the website www.dekalbcountywall.com and volunteering, donating or purchasing items for sale.
There will be two Motorcycle/Motorcades of vehicles that pertain to the WALL. The first is on Wednesday morning, July 12th and will escort the WALL from Yorkville, Illinois to Sycamore. Staging will be in Yorkville (Route 47 & Route 71) at 9:00am, safety brief at 9:45am and depart at 10:00am. The escort is for 2 wheelers, 3 wheelers and 4 wheelers and will travel Route 47, Route 34, Route 23 through Yorkville (10:00am), Plano (10:10am), Sandwich (10:15am), Waterman (10:40am), DeKalb (10:50am) (North Fourth St. to Lincoln Hwy to North First St. to Sycamore Road (Route 23) to Sycamore (11:00am) Route 23 to Route 64 and end at the East Sycamore Park (11:10am). Times may be off a little so if you want to watch the motorcycle/motorcade please be at your desired location a little early.
The second Motorcycle/Motorcade will be Saturday morning, July 15th and will Honor our Senior Veterans at eight different locations and end at the WALL. This is open to all vehicles. We will stage at the HyVee Food Store, 2700 DeKalb Avenue, Sycamore, Illinois. Staging starts at 8:30am, safety brief at 9:00am and depart at 9:15am. We will be at Pine Acres Rehab & Living Center 9:30am-9:50am, Barb City Manor 9:55am-10:15am, DeKalb County Rehab & Nursing Center 10:30am-10:50am, Heritage Woods 10:55am-11:15am, Oak Crest DeKalb Area Retirement Center 11:30am-11:50am, Bethany Healthcare & Rehab Center 11:55am-12:15pm, Grand Victorian of Sycamore 12:25pm-12:45pm, Lincolnshire Place 1:00pm-1:20pm and will end at the East Sycamore Park for THE WALL THAT HEALS ceremony at 2:00pm. Please help us Honor Our Senior Veterans.

There will ceremonies at the WALL each Day. 7:00pm on Thursday and Friday and 2:00pm on Saturday and Sunday. Following the Sunday ceremony the WALL will be taken down.
