A fall can be very traumatic and lead to serious injury. While there are many factors that contribute to falls, aging does not have to be one of them. Look Good…Feel Better
Look Good…Feel Better is presented in partnership with the American Cancer Society, Personal Care Products Council Foundation, Professional Beauty Association, and the National Cosmetology Association. This free program teaches beauty techniques to women or girls who are actively undergoing cancer treatment to help combat the appearance-related side effects of radiation therapy and chemotherapy. This course is intended for participants who provide healthcare to patients in a wide variety of situations, including in and out-of-hospital settings. These healthcare providers may include (but are not limited to) nurses, paramedics, EMT’s, respiratory therapists, CNAs, and other allied health personnel. This program is designed to give a small group of individuals a more personalized approach to conditioning. Chair Yoga
Simple yoga stretching and breathing done through yoga poses and postures in a seated position improves range of motion, flexibility, and strength. Deep relaxing breathing helps increase energy, and decrease stress and anxiety. A chair also serves as support for standing yoga postures. This engaging series consists of three classes offered quarterly at the KishHealth System Cancer Center to provide support and education around the unique needs of individuals and caregivers after cancer treatment. Ingredients for Healthy Living: 4-Part Kitchen Skills Series
Jo Cessna, Healthy Culinary Instructor, introduces a variety of topics to help you improve your kitchen skills in this 4 part series. Register once to attend all sessions. “Getting Started” teaches participants about key kitchen elements including kitchen tools and language, basic ingredients, and how to build a natural shopping list. During “Perfect Produce” learn how to select and care for produce, simple knife skills and basic techniques to cook any vegetable without a recipe. “Spices and Herbs” covers spice blends and purchasing, storing, and drying essential spices and herbs. Make your own convenience items like: taco seasoning, breading, chai, pesto and more. And the last session, “Fortify Your Fridge” participants learn simple techniques to fill the fridge once per week and still create wonderful breakfasts, lunches and dinners. C-Section Expectations
A cesarean section (c-section) is the delivery of a baby through an incision in the mother’s abdomen and uterus. A certified childbirth educator explains this procedure beginning with when to schedule it through what happens after you get home. If you know you’re having a c-section, even if it’s a repeat, setting expectations and understanding the process can ease some of the anxiety you may be experiencing.
