Free Know Your Numbers Screening Appointments
Kishwaukee Community Hospital has enhanced the format of Know Your Numbers to be more focused on patients through individual appointments. Knowing and understanding your numbers is a component vital to good health. Heart disease and other health issues can be predicted using this information. As a service to the communication, Kish Hospital is offering the following screenings and education free of charge in the convenience of one appointment: blood test for cholesterol and blood sugar levels, blood pressure, waist measurement, body mass index (BMI), and education. Appointments are available the 2nd and 4th Thursdays each month. Registration and 12 hour fast required. Must be 20 years or older. Chair Yoga
Simple yoga stretching and breathing done through yoga poses and postures in a seated position improve range of motion, flexibility, and strength. Deep relaxing breathing helps increase energy, decrease anxiety and stress. A chair also serves as support for standing yoga positions. CPR Healthcare Provider
This course is intended for participants who provide healthcare to patients in a wide variety of situations, including in and out-of-hospital settings. These healthcare providers may include (but are not limited to) nurses, paramedics, EMTs, respiratory therapists, CNAs, and other allied health personnel. The course is also designed for anyone who is required to take a healthcare provider course for employment and may be attended by laypersons. $50/person. This group is open to anyone impacted by cancer. Valley West nurse volunteers offer free weekly blood pressure checks at Valley West Community Hospital every Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m. Just walk in, no registration is required.
Community Blood Drive
Valley West Community Hospital hosts a community blood drive on Aug. 27, from 1 – 5 p.m. in the Valley West Medical Office Building. Donating blood is completely safe, and organizations like the Heartland Blood Centers rely on volunteers for support. Help save lives by giving a meaningful gift this holiday season. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are preferred. Appointments can be made online or by calling Sue Morgan at 815.498.9467.
