A child-loss group intended for parents who have experienced the death of a child, no matter the age. Living After Loss meets June 24, July 22, & Aug. 26, from 6:30 – 8 pm at DeKalb County Hospice. Healthy Reflecting with Thought Journals
Thought journaling, a strategy used in cognitive behavioral therapy, provides individuals the opportunity to reflect on their thinking and emotions during and after an event. Join KishHealth Counselor Mary McKinnel, LCPC, to learn how this technique can lead to more constructive thinking and healthier outcomes. Jo Cessna, Healthy Culinary Instructor, teaches how to select and care for produce, simple knife skills and basic techniques to cook any vegetable without a recipe. A bereaved parent grief support group. This is a new offering intended for parent who have experienced the death of a child and are seeking to connect with others for support and education. Free. Blood Pressure Clinic
Valley West nurse volunteers offer free weekly blood pressure checks at Valley West Community Hospital every Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m. Just walk in, no registration is required.
Safe Sitter
This 2-day internationally recognized babysitting program teaches 11 – 13 year olds the skills to provide children in their care a safe, and nurturing environment. Includes Safe Sitter backpack, manual, supplies and light refreshments. Safe Sitter is June 26 & 27, from 8:30 am – noon in the Valley West Medical Office Building. $40/child.
