Please join the DeKalb Public Works Department in an interactive Public Meeting at the DeKalb Police Headquarters Community Room, 700 W. Lincoln Highway, on May 23 and May 25, 2017 from 6:30 P.M to 7:30 P.M. The discussion will focus on the City’s efforts to develop a multi-year asset management plan to improve the City’s streets and fleet. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and express their thoughts on choosing a plan of action. The goal is to facilitate a dialogue between the community and staff.
Originally, Public Works intended to outsource the Asset Management Plan (AMP) to a consulting firm selected through the City’s RFP process. However, because of the high cost of the proposals received, Public Works Director Tim Holdeman will manage the AMP project. Management Analyst Patrick DiDiana will assist and Assistant Finance Director Robert Miller will assist in the development of financial options.
The new approach increases staff involvement in project management and technical support. Firms with expertise in the development of pavement management programs and municipal capital improvement financing will supplement the efforts of staff. This approach reduces the cost of the AMP for Streets and Fleet to $28,600. Staff encourages residents and community leaders to attend.
