Northern Illinois University will once again play host to the Drum Corps “Tour of Champions” this coming Sunday, July 12th, 2015. The sound of brass and rhythms of percussion will invade Huskie country as Drum Corps returns to Northern Illinois University for their 35th year.
This show will feature seven (7) of the World’s Top 12 Drum & Bugle Corps in competition. This year’s show welcomes ALL Midwest Drum Corps Alumni, including Phantom Regiment, The Cavaliers, Guardsmen, Knights Drum and Bugle Corps, Royal Airs, Vanguards, Madison Scouts and others. These are but some of the once 70 plus Drum Corps invited from the Midwest.
“This is a wonderful attraction for DeKalb County” comments Michael Embrey, local Drum Corps contact. “It is great to have an event that will bring 5,000 to 6,000 people to our community. It is the largest special entertainment event during the summer in DeKalb County.”
Prior to the show all Drum Corps Alumni are invited to tailgate at ‘Fatty’s Pub’ on 1212 West Lincoln Highway near the NIU Huskie Stadium. Limited tickets are available in DeKalb at FunME Events ( 815-756-1263), 650 Peace Road, Suite F in DeKalb, Illinois. Other tickets are available on line at www.ticketmaster.com.
The show is sponsored in part by DCI, Phantom Regiment Drum Corps (Rockford), Kishwaukee Fest Organization of DeKalb County and FunME Events. Doors open at 6:00 PM and the show starts at 7:30 PM. Seats are reserved with many of the center section sold out.
