What a weekend of racing! If your dad loved racing this weekend was the one to spoil him at Sycamore Speedway. It all started on Thursday, June 13 with the rescheduled 50th anniversary race featuring UMP Late Models & UMP Modifieds plus their Super Late & Late Models. This was the first time the modifieds had ever run at Sycamore. The UMP Late Models have not been on this clay oval in over 30 years. This was a great way to start off the racing weekend. Friday was no exception for excitement, with a pack house of fans and a full field of cars the Spectator, Powder Puff & Compacts put on the show of the season. And then Saturday, the honorary race of the year, the Joe & Nick Memorial 50 lap feature. This evening featured drivers of past and present that won in past years. This race began in 2004 and to date there has not been a repeat winner. This year the victory went to 20Jr Reno Markham for the Super Late Models and his cousin, Danny Markham #00 took the victory for the Late Models.
For this coming weekend Sycamore Speedway is hosting a Compact Car Demolition Derby, Figure 8, 1-on-1 Drags along with Spectator, Powder Puff & Compact Racing on Friday night and then Saturday it’s a night for the kids with free hayrides plus Badger Micro Sprints along with Super Late Models, Late Models, Powder Puff, Spectator & Compact Racing.
For both nights of racing this weekend, Gates open at 6pm, Time Trials at 7:15pm, and Racing at 8pm and General Admission is $12 for Adults, $5 for children ages 6 through 13 and for children 5 and under are FREE.
