The Mercury Theater has announced it will be closing permanently at the end of June. This is such sad news to read and devasting for the entire Chicago theater community.
The theater opened in 1920 as a silent film theater and in 1994 was remodeled to become a 300 seat live theater venue.
The Mercury Theater was a location for many local actors to hone their skills in first rates shows as well as premieres. It will be a major loss for the theater community in Chicago.
