Sullivan’s Tavern is getting ready to bring in the New Year right with The Relics band live this Thursday evening, New Year’s Eve, starting at 8:30pm. The Relics is a band of veteran musicians who grew up in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. They love this music and love playing. The Relics bring you songs that bring back some great memories. Their objective is to “keep the party goin'”, and play tunes that most bands pass over.
Talk about decades of great music and tons of change! 1960 was the year we saw a “new” Elvis. Fresh out of the Army and so refined. No longer could he be referred to as “the hillbilly cat”. Sideburns were gone and his voice was perfect! The 10 years covered songs from artists of all styles. We saw huge hits from single artists: Johnny Tillotson, Bobby Rydell, Brenda Lee, Dion, Johnny Cash, Brian Hyland, just to name a few, and hey, look at the British invasion: The Beatles, Rolling Stones and of course, tons more: The US groups like Paul Revere & The Raiders, The Turtles, Gary Lewis & The Playboys….it never ends! Get the Idea? The music of the 60’s is endless! Due to numerous requests , The Relics find themselves expanding their song catalog to include some of the best rockin’ tunes from the 70’s & 80’s.
Come on out and dig the sounds of The Relics….they’ll rock your socks off! For more information call Gary Hiland @ (815) 901-2004. Sullivan’s Tavern is located at 722 E. Lincoln Hwy. in DeKalb. Listen to the video below and see some great shots from another time they were at Sullivan’s Tavern!
