Kishwaukee Special Recreation Association, (KSRA), is a nonprofit organization that provides community- based Recreation Therapy programs, Camp Maple Leaf in the summers, collaboration of Special Olympics programming, and Inclusion services to individuals with different abilities. Kishwaukee SRA is proud to announce the joining of two new park district member agencies – Flagg-Rochelle Park District and Sandwich Park District. The Kishwaukee Special Recreation Association’s mission is “to serve all residents who have special needs and to facilitate the inclusion of these individuals into leisure programs” and now the organization supports its five park district member agencies – DeKalb, Flagg-Rochelle, Genoa Township, Sandwich, and Sycamore.
What does that mean for the patrons of those park districts? It means that now any individual with a different ability can participate in Kishwaukee SRA specific programming – such as Bowling, Family Fun Night Out, Social Nights, and Special events – at the resident rate and will also be supported with Inclusion services if that individual wants to participate in the park district programming as well!
Kishwaukee Special Recreation Association is holding a few open houses to meet the community members! The Sandwich Park District open house is going to be held at the David A. Francis Recreation Center, 1001 N. Latham Drive on January 21, 2017 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM. At this event you can come meet the staff, explore the different programs that Kishwaukee SRA provides, and stay for the Winter Family Dance that is from 6:00- 8:00 PM. The open house for the Flagg-Rochelle Park District is going to be held on April 22, 2017 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the Flagg-Rochelle Park District’s Teen Town facility.
The Kishwaukee Special Recreation Association is excited about this expansion and welcome suggestions and questions regarding this wonderful opportunity to serve residents in these areas. If you have questions about registration, the programs, and the Inclusion services that the Kishwaukee SRA provides, please contact Julie A.
