The DeKalb County History Center (DCHC) has already started to receive donations from communities throughout the county. Their first donation was connected to the Burgermann family. They had three boys who served in World War I. The family now lives out of state, but donated photos, medals, and other related memorabilia.
Do you have some items at home that you would like to donate, and don’t have a local history organization in your community? If these materials have a connection to DeKalb County, contact the DCHC and they will see if they are a good fit for the new collection.
For more information about these and other programs, call 815-895-5762 or visit dekalbcountyhistory.org. DeKalb County History Center is located at 1730 N. Main Street in Sycamore. Open hours are: T–Th, SA: 10 am – 3 pm; F, SU–M: Closed. Hours can vary by season.
