We want to thank our readers for making DeKalb County Online their source for local news and events. Our readership continues to grow, as every week we now get 40,000 glances. Our updates and stories cover not only DeKalb County, but items of interest that are happening in Northern Illinois as well.
Our goal is to cover items that affect our lifestyles and provide information on local activities, events, concerts, business, agriculture, education, politics and social issues. Our business section allows us to showcase and promote locally owned businesses, shoppes and stores. After being posted on our website, many of our articles are networked on Facebook and Twitter for additional readers to review.
If you are a local writer or have interest in journalism, DeKalb County Online is always seeking unique human interest stories. In addition, if you have a knack for taking that one special photo, we would like to share your talents with our audience. This past winter we had over 200 photographs of winter scenes submitted for viewing. If you would like to submit a story, article or photograph, please contact our editor at dekalbcountyonline.editor@gmail.com.
DeKalb County Online will continue to post news alerts that affect the lives and lifestyles of local residents. Some of our best news breaks come from our readers who are on the scene as events happen. If you see something that needs to be reported, please call (815) 758-0197 (all calls are confidential). Our goal will be to provide news in real time when possible.
We are always updating our social calendar to include more events and activities that occur in the DeKalb County and Northern Illinois areas. As busy as our social editor is, we still rely on many of our readers to give us additional information on events and activities.
In addition to our social calendar, we now link stories and show (concert and theater) details on Facebook under “Dekalb County Theater League.” We sometimes offer free tickets on Facebook for our entertainment readers. With our national theater contacts, we can offer advance information about upcoming events including premieres and special discounts. It is nice to be the first to know! (Spoiler alert: DeKalb County will be hosting a Hot Air Balloon Festival this year—details to follow.)
