Collect Pledges Now, Walk your Pooch in Parade on Oct. 17
Calling all dog lovers throughout Kane and DeKalb County: Save the date for you and your best furry friend – Sunday, October 17 – and kick off the Cortland Parade in TAILS Humane Society’s Annual Mutt Strut. Get busy now by raising pledges for TAILS and planning your dog’s costume.
Shelters around the country sponsor dog walks to raise money for a variety of shelter programs and needs. These events are centered around getting dog owners to collect sponsors and pledges for their canine friends to be donated to the shelter. It’s easy and fun the electronic way!
This year, TAILS is hoping that some cat owners will take the plunge and “reign” on the doggies’ parade by participating in the walk with a photo of their feline friend on their shirt or hat or sign.
Walkers can combine with friends and family and be eligible to win the “Mutt Strut Team Award” if they raise at least $1,000. Corporations whose employees enter a team and raise at least $1,000 will compete for the “Best in Show Award.” Top individual fundraiser will win the “Me and My Dog” award.
It’s really easy. Just go to www.firstgiving.com/tails to set up your pledge page and then simply email your personalized fundraising page out to your friends and family. It couldn’t be simpler! If you don’t feel comfortable doing something like this alone, a TAILS rep can help you by emailing mgroeper@tailshumanesociety.org. Or call TAILS at 815.75-TAILS (758.2457), ext. 101, for assistance.
The $20 registration fee ($25 the day of the event) if received by 10/13 puts you in the running for the awards and you’ll receive an event tee shirt. For more information go to www.tailshumanesociety.org or call the number above.
If you tire before the Mutt Strut ends, TAILS will have a trailer that you can hop on and ride the rest of the route. The donations collected will help TAILS continue to be a place of refuge and hope for pets and wildlife.
