“Parents Can Feel Good” According to the AP, McDonalds is testing a version of chicken nuggets with certain preservatives removed. The company says “parents can feel good” about the new chicken nuggets. Unfortunately, there is nothing about McDonalds, or the slew of other fast food joints, that parents can fully feel good about in terms of providing their children healthy, nutritional food. The nuggets will still be ultra processed “stuff” lacking nutritional value. They’ll still be deep fried in not so healthy oils. The way fast food joints have generally defined Americans’ diets over the last several decades is correlated with the general increase in Americans’ poor health. We at Grassroots offer something parents can truly feel good about…and we take the guessing out of which menu items might have nutritional value as our entire menu is designed around nutrition. Bring your children in for a fresh pressed juice so they can get their necessary daily veggies. Or a bowl of soup, wrap, or salad for the nutritional value they won’t get from fast food. Or instead of ice cream, bring them in for a smoothie so they can get real fruit in their diet. Or for that occasional chocolate snack, get them one of our bean brownies for a gluten-free, dairy-free snack with protein and fiber, without the extra sugar of commercial snacks. Healthy eating should be a habit. Help your children acquire the habit of healthy eating now, while they are young, so they will be able to enjoy better quality lives as they get older. We’ll see you soon.
