August 11th-14th is the Annual Sycamore Steam Show and Threshing Bee. Sponsored by the Northern Illinois Steam Power Club, this four day event is at the Taylor Marshall Farm on Plank Rd.
Open daily from 7am – 6pm, admission is $6, children under 12 are free. Thursday is Senior Citizen day where seniors get in for $3.
Each day begins with breakfast served until 9am. When the noon whistle blows, it’s time out for lunch with pork chops and chicken BBQ served by local favorite, Fay’s BBQ. Food is served each day until 6pm.
At 1:30 each day is the can’t miss Parade, featuring old Steam Engines, Tractors, Cars and other antique machines. Whatever you do, if you go to this show, plan on being there at 1:30 for this unique event.

From 9:30am – 4pm each day you will see:
* Threshing using Steam Engines and Gas Tractors.
* Sawmill in operation sawing logs into lumber using Steam Power.
* Shingle Mill next to the Sawmill.
* Baling Straw using Club’s 1900 Sandwich stationary wire-tie baler
* Silo filling
* Barrel Train Rides around the grounds for kids of all ages.
* Mule Team and wagon giving rides around the Showgrounds
* Grinding wheat
* Flink Fan driven by Steam Engines and Tractors to test operation at load.
* Pony Brake to test horsepower
* Boiler making and repair demonstration near the Steam Engines using hot rivets.
* Music being played at the Announcer’s Stand
* Plowing using Steam Engines and Tractors in the field south of the Grounds.
* Large Gas Engine display- Over 275 of various sizes and types.
Other Attractions running all day, every day:
* The big Vilter Tandem-Compound Corliss Stationary Steam Engine in operation in the Founders Building
* Club Secretary – Membership Registration, Show Buttons and more. Club hats and Shirts are also available in the Engine building.
* Rope making for the Kids
* Bake Sale, Club Merchandise, White Elephant Sale, Raffle in the Founders Building
* Music, Old cars, old time country store, living room and kitchen sets, Farm Toy Show and much more in The John Maslch building.
* Petting Zoo in the FFA Building
