SYCAMORE PARK DISTRICT’s NEWER PARKS
Amongst the 16 park sites of the Sycamore Park District are two, newer sites created by the build-out of two subdivisions on the north end of Sycamore.
Boynton Park and Founders Park–located, respectively, at the corner of Boynton Street & Northgate Drive, and on the south side of Herron Creek Drive–are what we refer to as “Neighborhood Parks”. There is no parking lot, because it is intended as a safe place to walk or ride to for the children/family/adults of their neighborhoods. Both have benches to sit and relax, playgrounds, open areas for kite flying/pick-up sports activities, and accessible paths to get to those amenities. There is small picnic shelter at Founders Park. There are other neighborhood parks in Sycamore, and ones in Reston Ponds and Parkside Preserve that are waiting for the developer to transfer deed to the park district so they can be developed.
