The Sycamore Police Department will hold their first Neighborhood Liaison meetings next week. All neighborhood residents are invited to attend the meeting for their ward and speak to their liaison officers. Please see the schedule and map below referring to your ward.
Ward 1 –February 24 at 6pm, Sycamore Library
Ward 2 –February 22 at 7pm, Sycamore City Council Chambers
Ward 3 –February 25 at 7pm, Sycamore City Council Chambers
Ward 4 –February 23 at 7pm, Sycamore High School Cafeteria
The Neighborhood Liaison Program is designed to do several things:
- Establish a pipeline of information between the police and neighborhood residents through the use of neighborhood meetings and police points of contact
- Assist in information exchange between alderpersons and police liaison supervisors
- Create a systematic approach to quality of life issues and minor ordinance violations in order to maintain the beauty of Sycamore neighborhoods.
How it works:
Four police officers, a detective and a Sergeant are assigned to each ward. The sergeant acts as a direct point of contact for alderpersons and citizens to contact regarding non-criminal, quality of life issues.
The sergeant and officers will host neighborhood meetings in order to talk about crime prevention topics and to give residents an opportunity to tell the police about neighborhood problems.
Patrol officers will be responsible to regularly patrol assighned neighborhoods to look for ordinance violations and problems which detract from the enjoyment of those neighborhoods. These officers will then find ways to abate these problems, including working with local residents and, when necessary, issuing ordinance citations.
