The current exhibits include “Why Sycamore Works”. Sycamore, Illinois, is widely known as a lovely, small, agricultural town, the county seat of DeKalb County. However, behind the scenes, the true lifeblood of Sycamore is a vibrant and active industrial base. Sycamore manufacturing has grown hand-in-hand with the steady, deliberate development of the city through the dedication and effort of its people to provide products that relate to and engage with the world beyond. In fact, Sycamore has developed in key ways to suit manufacturing, and many of our products reflect solutions to specific problems or needs. The people of Sycamore, with their entrepreneurial spirit, along with savvy civic and business leaders have created a unique manufacturing climate that has attracted a wide variety of successful firms through the decades.
This exhibit explores the role of manufacturing in the growth and continued success of Sycamore. Join them as they look at the variety of manufacturing companies that have located here (WHERE), the processes perfected here (HOW), the products these firms have produced (WHAT), and the people who continue to make those products (WHO). Experience with them Why Sycamore Works! The Sycamore History Museum is located at 1730 N. Main Street (Rt. 23) in Sycamore, next to Heron Creek.
