Sycamore Fire Department was awarded $1,000 Grant from The Enbridge Energy Partners
In early, 2018, the Sycamore Fire Department applied for a grant from the Enbridge Energy Partners (EEP) Safe Community program. The Enbridge Safe Community program offers grants to first responder organizations located in communities that host Enbridge operations. Launched in 2002 as the “Enbridge 9-11 Fund,” the Safe Community program has invested more than $5.7 million in North American emergency responder organizations, including police and sheriff departments, firefighters and emergency medical services. The program helps underwrite equipment acquisitions or training that would help organizations better prepare to respond in the event of an emergency.
The grant proposal requested to fund equipment that will enhance firefighter safety and survival on the emergency scene. The $1,000 grant award will facilitate the purchase of a four-gas atmospheric monitoring instrument. This device is used to investigate natural gas/gasoline odor complaints as well as monitor known active hydrocarbon fuel leaks.
On July 31, 2018, representatives from Enbridge presented the Sycamore Fire Department with a check for $1,000 for the purchase of a four-gas atmospheric monitor. The Sycamore Fire Department is extremely grateful of the support of Enbridge Energy Partners (EEP).
