On Monday April 7th, 2014, at approximately 0040 hours, the DeKalb Police Department responded to a battery that occurred at Road Ranger located at 1734 Sycamore Road. While a female subject was attempting to enter her parked vehicle in the lot, a male subject quickly pulled into a parking stall of the business almost striking the victim and her vehicle. The victim approached the suspect and questioned him about his actions. The male subject then attacked the victim punching her several times causing injury. The victim declined medical attention. The suspect left the area prior to police arrival.
Through information obtained by witnesses and surveillance video, the suspect was identified as Javon Shelton. The information received was used to obtain an arrest warrant for Shelton for Aggravated Battery with bond set at $5,000, 10% to apply. Contact was made with Shelton who on April 16th turned himself into the DeKalb Police Department. Shelton was booked, and released on $500 bond.
