This January, Stage Coach Players will be performing Wicked, Hamilton and The Book of Mormon. That sounds incredible doesn’t it, and wouldn’t it be great to see those great musicals at Stage Coach Theatre? Unfortunately, none of those shows will be performed in their entirety, but songs from each along with two dozen others WILL be performed during Stage Coach Players’ Taking On Broadway.
Taking On Broadway is a cabaret featuring songs from musicals that have yet to grace the Stage Coach stage. Show dates are January 18 – 20, 2019 with the cabaret directed by Nika Morton, Cortney Jo Newby and Sara Pajor with accompanists Tyler Kielb, Heather Krupa and Abi Mogge. The trio of Morton, Newby and Pajor directed last years’ cabaret Tangled In Tinsel.
In addition to Morton, Newby and Pajor, the cast includes Nick Bantz-Beaty, Shannon Becker, Steve Becker, Natalie Boone, Deb Brubaker, Terri Crain Goodman, Elenia Dokos, Scotty Fleetwood, Leigh Foulk, Bryan Fowler, Kevin Gum, Jeff Hall, Jon Hawkins, Mary Hawkins, Jeff Heider, Heather Heinrich, Paula Howlett, Dorcas Keating, Edward Keating, Gregor King, Jan Lam, Karissa Lam, Grace Leopardo, Kristin Madden, Jisela Marquez, Ryan Morton, Sarah Morton, Gracie Pincombe, Hillary Rutten, Piper Schiola Williams, Bernie Schuneman, Hannah Squires, Josie Squires, Melissa Squires, Renee Tracy, Dave Watson and Hannah Wood.
A fund-raiser for Stage Coach, Taking On Broadway is an original show with songs chosen to fit the voices and strengths of the cast members. The show features over 44 songs from over 40 shows that have never been performed by Stage Coach in its 72 seasons in DeKalb. Some are recent Broadway smashes, while others are community theatre standards that have simply not graced its stage. In addition, the show will highlight songs from the 2019 season at Stage Coach.
