Stage Coach Players proudly announces their 2017 Black Box production: “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike,” a hilarious comedy by Christopher Durang.
“We live in a time of light-speed technological advances and constant social media bombardment,” said Wendy Tritt, director. “We see some of the consequences of this with Vanya and his adopted sister Sonia, who have frittered their lives away in their family’s farmhouse in Bucks County, PA. To make matters worse, their addled housekeeper, Cassandra, frequently dispenses alarming prophecies.”
While Vanya and Sonia stayed home to take care of their ailing parents, their sister, Masha, was gallivanting around the world as a successful actress and movie star. She suddenly returns home with her twenty-something boy toy, Spike, and announces that she is selling the farmhouse. The stage is set for an absurd weekend of hilarity and global warming.
The cast consists of Norm Read, Julia Woodward, Elenia Dokos, Paula Tsiagalis, Hayden Perkins and Merri Bork, all of whom are experienced Stage Coach Players. These actors have appeared in Stage Coach Players musicals, comedies and dramas and bring these varied talents to this production. Tritt and Jeff Heider, first-time Stage Coach Players directors, are enjoying the dedication and growth that everyone is experiencing. The creativity and comedic energy that has been developed by this group will have audiences laughing, sighing, contemplating and laughing some more.
