Somonauk’s SummerFest is all set for this Friday and Saturday, July 25th and 26th, 2014. This is one of DeKalb County’s small town festival gems. SummerFest opens on Friday at 5pm and runs until midnight. There will be a KidZone area, carnival rides , beer garden, live bands, food, craft show, cruise night and free photo booth pictures. Live music with Mason Rivers will run from 8pm until midnight Friday.
Saturday starts with the Rock the ‘Nauk – Run / Walk at 7:30am. The 2014 Somonauk Summer Fest Parade will be held on Saturday, July 26th, at 10:00 am. This year, the parade’s theme will be “The Beat Goes On”.
All of the typical festival attractions mentioned above will also run on Saturday starting at 11am. Additionally, there will be a Somonauk Blue Stockings old-style baseball game going on starting at 1pm, a Pedal Pull in the Park starting at 2pm and a Tractor Pull starting at 3pm – all three great fun to watch!
The Brandon Stiles Band will take the stage from 5-8pm. The unique Radio Incorporated, will be playing ‘Every style on the Dial’ from 9-11:30pm on Saturday.
Supported by the businesses in Somonauk and the surrounding area since 2008, Somonauk Summer Fest has worked to improve local parks by raising money for picnic tables, roads and permanent facilities. The Somonauk Summer Fest committee is dedicated to helping improve and expand the local parks that offer safe and protected areas for families and children to gather play and enjoy the outdoors throughout the year.
