Update 1/15/17 1:52pm: The Assistant Director of Public Works has CANCELLED the SNOW ROUTE PARKING PROHIBITION declared January 15, 2018, thereby deactivating the parking prohibition on all parts of all snow emergency routes effective immediately.
The Department of Public Works thanks our residents for their cooperation during the
recent snow emergency.
Snowfall has exceeded 2 inches. The Assistant Director of Public Works has now declared a
“PARKING PROHIBITION” on all designated snow routes in the City of DeKalb.
Thereby activating a parking prohibition on all designated snow emergency routes in
effect today beginning at 6:30 a.m. The snow route declaration will be cancelled when
plowing has been completed.
The DeKalb Police Department will be enforcing snow emergency routes and seasonal
parking restrictions. Police Officers are authorized to ticket and tow vehicles in violation
of this ordinance. Any person in violation of this ordinance will be fined not less than
$25.00 or more than $75.00.
Residents of DeKalb are strongly encouraged to remove their cars from all City streets
to facilitate snow removal operations during this snow event.
Also, all sidewalks shall be kept clear of ice and snow after an accumulation of 2 inches
or more in accordance with section 51.21-5 of the DeKalb Municipal code.
