The fall excitement of ‘Fright Fest’ and Christmas event ‘Holiday in the Park’ may not happen at Six Flags Great America Theme Park. The Lake County (IL) Health Department would not confirm or deny that the theme park would reopen this year, but with the recent uptick in COVID-19 cases in Lake County, it seems unlikely.
‘Fright Fest’ would be happening weekends in October with many rides set up with Halloween themes. The park would be opening late afternoons into the evenings.
‘Holiday in the Park’ is the Christmas themed event operating November thru December on weekends at the park.
Local Student Theme Park Tour Operator Michael Embrey (FunME Events Tours) confirmed that many theme parks across the nation are still temporarily closed. “We work with 14 major theme parks including Six Flags properties and Cedar Point and they remain optimistic that they will reopen in 2021” said Embrey. “We are still booking trips to Disney in both Florida and California.”
