DeKalb County Treasurer Christine Johnson would like to remind taxpayers that the second installment of real estate taxes is due Tuesday, September 3, 2013. Taxes may be paid by mail, at most county banks, on-line or in person at the Treasurer’s Office at the DeKalb County Administration Building, 110 East Sycamore Street in Sycamore from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The office is closed Monday, September 2 for Labor Day.
If you mail your payment, the stub on the bottom of your tax bill should accompany your payment. Please put your parcel number on your check to insure proper credit.
Taxpayers may also pay their taxes at most banks in DeKalb County during the bank’s normal business hours, on or before the due date of the installment. Taxpayers should bring the entire tax bill to the bank and put their parcel number on their check. Banks cannot accept payments after the due date.
The Treasurer’s Office accepts tax payments on-line via E-Pay using Master Card, American Express and Discover Card, Visa and Visa Debit. Taxpayers can also pay using Master Card, American Express, Discover Card and Visa in person at the Treasurer’s Office. Please note that the credit card service provider will charge a convenience fee for those wishing to charge their real estate taxes on a credit card.
Another payment option is the ability to pay taxes online with a direct debit from the taxpayer’s bank account through SameDayPay.
In order to pay taxes with either of these online options, taxpayers should visit the DeKalb County website at www.dekalbcounty.org and click on the Property Data box and click on the link that says “Pay My Property Taxes Online.” Both the E-Pay and SameDayPay links are listed on this page. You will find it helpful to have your tax bill at hand when making your payment online.
If you have questions about your tax payment, please visit our website at www.dekalbcounty.org or call Treasurer Johnson’s office at 815-895-7112.
